Research Interests:

My research employs noninvasive physiological techniques, event-related potential (ERP) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), together with behavioral and psychophysical measures (e.g., reaction time, d') to detail the involvement and mechanisms of attention in auditory information processing.  Specific topics of investigation include: 1. The effects of task load (Easy vs. Difficult goal- directed task) in detecting task-irrelevant auditory irregularities and in gating distractors. 2. The interaction between attention and language in speech perception. 3. Attentional modulation of auditory cortex. 4. Effects of consciousness (sleep vs. wakefulness) on detection of auditory deviance.
