Picture Name Rhyme Matching

Example trial from the picture name rhyme matching test.

This test assesses the ability to recognize a familiar visual object and mentally access its name prior to articulation. Each trial consists of a sample object picture presented in the center of a computer display with two choice items below the sample (see figure). The patient's task is to select the item whose name rhymes with the name of the sample. As in the word rhyme matching task, distractors are selected such that orthographic information, even if accessed, is unhelpful (e.g., HOE » TOE/SHOE; BOX » LOCKS/DUCKS).
